About Unity Halton Peel

1973 Unity of Mississauga Church began as a study group of 17 people who met at Texaco Hall sponsored by Unity Church of Truth in Toronto and the aegis of Rev. James Sherman.  The group grew and in 1983 recruited Donna Easter, Licensed Unity Teacher, as their spiritual leader.  They then moved to Lorne Park Public Librarty and held services there from 1983 to 1985.

1985-1999 Unity Church of Mississauga was incorporated in 1985 and purchased its first building on Ann Street the following year.  Donna Easter completed ministerial training in 1988 and during the ensuing years the congregation grew in consciousness and numbers.  Rev. Donna made her transition in May 1994 and was succeeded by Rev. Jordan Ellis who served until January 1999. In the spring of 1999 the building on Ann Street was sold and the congregation met on Sundays at the Port Credit Library with Rev. Polly Dozier officiating.

2000 In June 2000, the congregation purchased three adjoining business condominium units on Ridgeway Drive which were renovated into offices, Youth Education quarters and a beautiful sanctuary.  The purchase of these units was a huge financial step, as the mortgage increased three-fold.

In August 2000, Rev. Pat Ball became the minister of Unity of Mississauga.  The congregation held its first Sunday service in the new building on Thanksgiving 2000.

2004 The congregation embarks on the Embrace the Vision...Experience the Miracle! capital campaign to secure a new Spiritual Home for Unity of Mississauga.

2006 In August Rev. Ball left to develop other Unity Centres in Ontario.   In December Rev. Dale Blackford joined our family.

2010 Rev. Blackford left to follow a path of authorship and other spiritual pursuits.

Rev. Mary Wood was installed as the permanent part-time minister at Unity of Mississauga on April 13, 2014 by Rev. Robert Brumet.

In the spring of 2021, Unity of Mississauga sold its premises in Mississauga and became a Virtual Church.

On October 3, 2021, Unity of Mississauga changed its operating name to Unity Halton Peel.

Reverand Mary Wood resigned and was farewelled in December 2021.
